Oh To Be Young Again: Buzzer Beating Three Sinks IEs Title Hopes

What a game this league final turned out to be as Get Shorty upended #1 seeded Industrial Economics to capture the C League crown last night. Despite being without both of their big men, IE played great and managed a comfortable lead throughout most of the game behind league MVP (league awards will be posted shortly, but I couldnt resist) John Hammer Dont Herters 27 points. Sidekick Neil Etre had 9 points and 9 rebounds and Katie Barnes picked up some of the scoring slack as well with 6 points. Get Shorty was very tight coming out in this game as the only one on Get Shorty who seemed to be ready for the finals was Donal Kerrigan (14 points), whos 4 threes single handedly kept his team within 10 points. But midway through the 2nd half, Get Shorty found its rhythm on both ends of the floor as Sun Sommala shook off a scoreless 1st half to nail 4 straight jumpers (11 points) to get his team back within 4 points. And then enter Finals MVP Morris Young, who not only played very solid defense on Herter in the 2nd half, but nailed 3 three pointers, none bigger than the one he hit with the game tied and 8 seconds to play. The crowd erupted after Morris hit the three, but IE had one last shot as Herter managed to get open for an open three. The shot was on line but it fell short and just like that Get Shorty is our league champs! Great effort from both teams in this one as Get Shorty showed no quit despite being down big in the 1st half. IE showed no quit as well despite being without their two big men, but as they say, their team is on the court. Great season and I hope to see you all in the next league.
