Eat It's "the Nark" takes it to Cash Money Daryl Green. The one-two punch of the Nark and Pistol Driscoll were too much for Cash Money and Clutch to handle in the finals...

Eat It out muscles/ out plays Clutch to win the Belt!

The score does not indicate how close this game actually was - it was a very close and intense final.  This season has been by far the most competitive Charlestown "A" league we've had.  Clutch scratched and clawed their way to the final with a stunning come-from-behind win over the Big Nice in the quarters, and then convincingly beat the playoff favorite FDH team in the semi's.  Eat It made the finals by beating the always tough FTR team in round 1, then beat cinderalla Telemundo in the semi's.  The atmosphere in the 110 degree boys and girls club was electric.  There were just as many fans (5) and there we're staff on hand (5).  Everyone was there: we had Manning taking pics, the Sergen on the video and even the commish making an appearance.

The game started out tight, like fighters trying to feel each other out in the ring (the only difference is this game actually had some action - not like that damn Delahoya/Mayweather "dance off" they had a few months ago).  The score was only 12-11 ten minutes into the game.  Then, Eat It started to show their muscle and size advantage on the glass.  It started with Jeff Kane grabbing boards like an animal.  With shooting off for both teams Eat It pounded the boards (doubled up Clutch on the boards - 33-16).  Kane (14 points & 10 rebs) grabbed some huge offensive rebs (5 total) which gave the Pistol Sean Driscoll and the Mike "the Nark" Narkiewicz some second chances - not a good thing for Clutch.  Driscoll took a ton of shots (21 points), but also led the team in assists (6).  It took until the last 30 seconds of the either team to get any momentum.  Eat it was up 3 and the Nark and Pistol Driscoll hit back to back 3's to close the half.  We had a 33-24 game at the half.

The second half is when both teams started to heat up and came alive.  Clutch game out hot as they have been a great second half all season.  Cash Money Daryl Green started to use that sweet lefty stroke (18 points) and the defensive pressure applied by Manny Mendez, Jarett Calhoun and Green (2 steals apiece) pulled Clutch back into it.  The momenteum seemed to be moving over to Clutch.  Calhoun was doing a bit of everything (12 points, 6 rebs, 2 steals) and Derrick Foster hit three second-half 3's (13 points total) to help tie this game at 48 w/ 5:00 to go.  We had 5 minutes left to decide who was going to win the championship belt - who wanted it more?

Well, it looked like Eat it wanted it more.  An 11-0 run by Eat It was propelled by Kane and Sean McCarthy hitting the glass.  Eat It did double up Clutch in the rebound dept, but it was the 13 HUGE offensive boards that won them this title.  Kane and McCarthy would grab a board, then get it to either Pistol, Mark or Dave Samman (10 points) and they would get it done.  Neither team shot that great, but Eat It WORKED their way to the title.  Congrats to Eat It to Beat It on winning the Charlestown League Championship belt!  They'll be out to defend their title in the fall league (which starts Sept 25th)
