N.W.O 76 vs Big Tickets 71

Diamantides Are Forever

A relentless, never ending assault of bodies from the Big Tickets threatened to over take N.W.O. and end their Cinderella run through the post season. Paul Collins (24 points) and Ken Mulane (17 points, 10 assists) started finding the range in the second half despite shooting on the tight rim. But the playoffs are when PTPers come to play, and Pete Diamantides (20 points, 5 assists) is one of those guys. He was en feugo in the 2nd half, hitting every line drive J that he put up. With Chris O (32 points) hitting his first 5 3s in the 2nd half, NWO opened up a 15 point lead. With Phi Slamma Jamma dropping buckets and protecting the paint, the Big Tickets wouldn't get closer than 6 the rest of the way. See what happens when Mike D has more assists (6) then 3 point attempts (5)?? Good things happen! They'll be facing Genzyme in the Finals Tuesday night at 7:30 PM. But the bad news is that they won't have the services of Dan O (broken fingers) or Q Walsh (can't make it). It will be tough to win that game giving up so much size!

For the Big Tickets, a great inaugural season has come to an end. They rolled through the B2 East this to claim the #1 seed in the regular season and then win the B2 East Title outright. Congrats guys, and we hope to see you next season! (Let me know ASAP, as the leagues are filling up, that goes for everyone who hasn't signed up yet!)

Genzyme 62 vs Tribe Called Monkey 52

'Zyme's Bigs Show up for Playoffs

It's tough when your opponent has a huge size advantage over you, it's a little intimidating before tip off figuring out how you're going to match up with 'Zyme. For the second straight week, Tribe Called Monkey battled hard to overcome mismatches at seemingly every position. Broadway Joe (27 points, 9 boards) was lighting up the scoreboard, dropping 19 in the first half as somehow his team held a 26-23 lead. Of course, Genzyme didn't panic, given that they were shooting at the tight rim in the first. Slowly but surely, their size advantage took over. Bob Muse (10 points, 5 blocks, 9 boards) and Kmeic (25 points, 14 boards) were dug up from the Genzyme archives to make a run in the playoffs and they didn't disappoint. They hounded Giggity-Gowdy (6 points, 5 boards) all night long, and didn't let Tribe's second option get into a groove. With EFPG (and now EFMVP) Matty O doing his best early 2000s J-Kidd (10 points, 12 boards, 9 assists) Zyme opened up a slight lead.

Val Texiera (10 points) and Akhil (6 points) scored late in the second as Tribe made another run at the game, but inevitable the outcome couldn't be changed. Van Tran (15 points) hit his free throws down the stretch, and despite the fact that Genzyme couldn't buy a 3 pointers (0-15 as a team) they're headed to the finals as heavy favorites. They're doing BFab and Deep proud, looking to hang their second banner of the season!
